A Special One-Day Landscape painting Retreat at The Snail House – Donaghadee

Join me for a beautifully curated, intimate art retreat in the heart of coastal Donaghadee.
Hosted at The Snail House, our charming Airbnb on William Street, this one-day experience is designed for just six guests, allowing for personal guidance, relaxed conversation, creativity and connection.
This is more than a painting class — it is a full creative experience for a small group,
with 1 to 1 guidance.
What Your Day Will Look Like
11am – Welcome & Introduction
We’ll begin the day gathered in The Snail House kitchen with tea and coffee as I chat through the structure of the day, the materials we’ll use, and the techniques I personally use when creating my oil paintings.
Coastal Exploration & Sketching
We’ll then head out to explore the beautiful surroundings of Donaghadee, including its iconic lighthouse and stunning coastal walks and scenery.
You’ll have time to sketch, photograph and gather inspiration from the sea, harbour and landscape.
Homemade Lunch at The Snail House
Returning to the house, we’ll enjoy a relaxed homemade lunch together.
Afternoon Painting – En Plein Air (Weather Dependent)
In the afternoon, you’ll create your own coastal painting on canvas inspired by the morning’s exploration.
You may choose to work in acrylic or oil on canvas, with full guidance throughout.
If the weather allows, we’ll paint outdoors in situ, or in the garden studio if needed, truly embracing the 'en plein air' experience.
End-of-Day Critique & Relaxation
We’ll finish with a gentle group critique, celebrating each other’s work, followed by tea, coffee or a well-earned glass of wine.
Each participant with also receive a FREE small landscape print of Stephen's work!
