Contemporary artist Stephen Whalley has created this exquisite pocket square from a series of oil
paintings from around his homeland of Northern Ireland.
Growing up in East Belfast Stephen knew he wanted to be an artist from the age of 5. His relatives
grew up alongside George Best at school and he remembers talking about him at family gatherings
at his Grandparents house near the Cregagh Estate. He loved to hear about the legendary footballer
known to be ‘The Best footballer in the World’ and his amazing talent!
‘Geordie’ as his father called him, was known for his amazing style both on and off the pitch and to
celebrate this local Northern Ireland icon Stephen painted the famous East Belfast man and made
him into one of silk designs for his collection.
