Launching my Art onto Silk
During my journey to developing the new Whalley silk brand, I stumbled across a young man by the name of Chris Suitor. Himself and his brother own suitor menswear in Belfast city centre. Clothing and customising is in his and his families blood…especially having a second name so close to his own profession!
Tom Suitor, previously of Gentry Menswear, opened Suitor Menswear Exclusive in 1992. He noticed a gap in Belfast for a contemporary menswear store, with old-fashioned values. Within a few months, the Suitor store had become a leader in mens fashion. Quality, Value for money, and most of all, personal service, set the shop apart from the rest.
In 1997 Toms eldest son, William joined the business as a partner. William drove the business forward, and this allowed Tom to open another store in Upper Arthur St, Belfast, LawSuit in 2000. Both businesses went from strength to strength and in 2010, Toms youngest son, Chris joined the business as a partner. This allowed Tom to take a step back and enjoy a well-earned semi-retirement!
A family business in every way, William and Chris have taken the businesses to even greater heights. Culminating in Chris being Short Listed Finalist, in the Belfast Business Person of the Year, amongst winning other awards.
My relationship with Chris has been a flourishing one and we hope to work with Suitor Menswear for many years to come!
